These usually annoying senators have introduced senate bill 1638, which would dramatically increase the salaries of the federal judiciary.

The bill would increase a district judge’s paycheck from $165,200.00 to $246,800.00; raise a circuit judge’s salary to $262,700.00; and give the Chief Justice of the United States a $100,000.00 payraise, from $212,100.00 to $318,200.00.

The Washington Post is not in favor of the idea for several (vaguely plausible) reasons, but anyone who attempts to argue the federal judiciary isn’t woefully underpaid is not to be taken seriously.
