I was happy when Texas won this game. I told my son that the worst part was that we would be hearing about it for the next ten years from Texas fans.
I want to remind everyone that USC scored a touchdown on every possession in the second half except the last one. The Texas defense could not stop them in the second half. On their last possession of the game they went for it on 4th and one, and the UT defense finally got the stop they needed. Had they punted the ball, it might have been more difficult for Vince to drive the field, but USC rolled the dice.
It was a great game. A really great game. Probably the best game I have ever seen. And I’m glad UT won. I really am. But I wish that everyone in Texas would remember that it was not a dominating performance. It was one super big stud taking over a game.
Okay, maybe I just have sour grapes because my school still only has less than 20 Big 12 wins.
I am admittedly and unabashedly biased when it comes to my estimation of the importance of all things Texas Football-related.
I will say this though, I think my favorite part of watching that game (besides winning the dang thing), was watching His Vinceness throw better than media-darling Leinart, and run MUCH better than fraudulent Heisman trophy winner Bush.
Much as Bush might have trid both in college (improperly) and now in the NFL, money just can’t buy you poise and leadership.
